My Story
Beginning my career as a teacher, I became entrenched in education and a deep love of learning. I studied the behaviors, social dynamics, and needs of the students I spent so much time with each day. This desire to help children led me to discover another way to help people. I returned to school to earn my Master's in Social Work. This has now allowed me to begin a new path, my own therapy practice. I am grateful to learn and be a support for those with whom I work.
I graduated from Michigan State University in 1999, with a B.A. in English and a minor in Psychology and Spanish. Spending time as a camp counselor after college in the mountains of North Carolina, I began to discover the connections I made with my campers. I decided I wanted to teach to be able to work with children every day. I returned home to Michigan to get my Master's in Education from Marygrove College in 2003. Teaching took me from Detroit, MI to Aztec, New Mexico, to Durango, Colorado and finally to Amherst, Massachusetts. These times provided me with the building blocks I needed to take the next steps. I was ready to be a support for people in a different way.
I attended Simmons University in Boston, MA and graduated with a Master's in Social Work-Clinical in 2019. My time since then has been spent working as a therapist with cancer survivors, grief and loss, and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
My goal is to help. I am here.
